Gandi hosts monthly WordPress event in Taipei
WordPress is currently one of the most popular content management systems (CMS) in the world with over 28% market share. While it continues to grow, more and more individuals and organizations choose WordPress to build simple personal websites, blogs, complex portals, enterprise websites and even applications.
We were very pleased to be able to work with the “WordPress Taiwan 正體中文 community” and hosted an event with them on 27th September. It was a community gathering and knowledge sharing event for people who like using WordPress, are eager to learn, use the platform and to communicate with each other. This time, we had attendees from many non-engineering (non-geeky) people with marketing and consulting expertise, a high school student with 4-year of WordPress experience, as well as WordPress plugin and WooCommerce development experts.

Introduction of Domain name transfer
HaWay from Gandi kicked off the event by introducing how to transfer domain names. Besides the basic concept and some frequently made mistakes, Haway highlighed key points about disabling “whois privacy” to be able to receive the FOA email, also using third-party nameservers to prevent DNS being interrupted by the original registrar.
fb2wp plug-in workshop
Mr. Jiang (from Knockers Design) then started the workshop session guiding everyone through the practice of the fb2wp integration tools, which is an useful plugin that can automatically synchronize all your Facebook content (including posts, photos, videos, tags and etc.) with your WordPress content with extremely simple setups.
The sharing and mingle at the end of the event was a lively and pleasant time for everyone. Some found their new partners, some figured out their technical problems (or obstacles in real life), and most importantly, we all learned something new!
