New rules apply to the domain registration policy for DotIE, the registry for .ie domains.
As of 21 March 2018, DotIE has removed the requirement to give a reason for registering a .ie domain. This makes it much quicker and easier to get a .ie domain.
Now, anyone with a connection to Ireland is eligible to register any unregistered .ie domain.
What’s not changing
The .ie TLD will still only be open to persons with a legitimate link to Ireland and the registry will still verify the identity of a a .ie registrant.

Starting 21 March, the DotIE registry will no longer protect your trademark for you. That means if there are any unregistered .ie domains that use your trademark, you should register your domain as soon as possible.
