Argentina now has .ar
Historically, the Argentine registry has only made domain names in the second-level domain .com.ar available for registration. Now, that’s changing. The Argentine registry is introducing .ar as a top-level domain (TLD) on its own.
The launch will take place in the following launch phases:
- The Sunrise phase will be based on having registered a .com.ar domain before December 1, 2015 with a price equivalent to that of .com.ar.
- Landrush phase: be aware that in the case of several requests for a single domain name, the registry will determine who gets the domain by lottery. If you do not win this lottery, the registry will not reimburse the amount paid. Prices in the Landrush phase will be twice the price of a .com.ar (according to the applicable pricing gird). The Landrush phase will extend from November 25, 2019 through January 23, 2020.
- GoLive and General Availability: the GoLive date, when .ar will enter the General Availibilty phase is February 23, 2020 Domains are priced at two times the .com.ar price.

As a reminder, only Gandi Corporate customers may purchase a .ar or .com.ar domain.
