Availability of Gandi Site on our new platform
Many of you have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of Gandi Site on #gandiV5. It’s finally here!
The website creation service you know as “Gandi Site by Basekit” has been rebranded “Go Sitebuilder by Basekit,” and integrated into our Marketplace. You can access it via the Marketplace section for your domain name.
- If you still use Sitemaker—the site building tool we made available to Gandi customers through 2012 that we announced the closure of in 2015—you’ll need to rebuild your website, using the new Go Sitebuilder for example, in order to continue to maintain your online presence.
- If you still use the old version of Basekit (V6), you’ll need to migrate your site in two steps—first upgrade to V10, and then migrate to #gandiv5. We’ll be sending out an email in the next few days about how to do that, so we recommend waiting for that email before trying to migrate your site.
We also changed how the pricing works for the new site builder tool. The service is now billed annually, and synced with the expiration date of the domain name to which it is linked. You will therefore need to renew it every year, even if you registered your domain name for more than one year. Please keep in mind that you can upgrade or downgrade your plan whenever you want, and we will modify the billing appropriately—refunding you the difference if you downgrade.
Since it wasn’t in very high demand, we’re no longer offering the free one-page option. Instead, we’re replacing that with a free 30-day Personal Plan trial period. That said, if you are using the free one-page option, we’ll continue provide that to you. The Premium (paid) options remain the same, with the exception of the new annual billing cycle and prices (which have been lowered a couple cents when calculated monthly).
We have more good news to announce as well—if you’re using our GandiBlog service, you’ll be glad to hear we are migrating it to our new website in early 2019. Like Go sitebuilder, we are integrating it to our Marketplace (under the original name of the service, “DotClear 2”)!
Of course, if you have any questions or comments about migrating your Gandi Site, GandiBlog, or anything else, please feel free to contact our Customer care team.
