The .madrid launch is underway! Obviously, .madrid domains are for Madrid, the capital of Spain.
Order of priority for .madrid
The launch of .madrid will take place in several simultaneous release phases between July 16 and October 3, 2019.
Domain names will be awarded at the end of this period according to the following priority:
- Sunrise: for those with a trademark registered with TMCH.
- Local brands: for those who own a Spanish brand or a geographical indication registered before July 5, 2019
- Local Entities: for organizations headquartered or established in the Madrid region
- Landrush: open to anyone otherwise eligible to register a .madrid domain name

Gandi will soon be accredited for .madrid
Gandi’s accreditation for .madrid is in progress. However, it’s still possible to register a .madrid domain during the priority registration period. Each order will be saved and then sent to the registry prior to October 3, 2019, the final date for priority registrations. Since the .madrid registry is not using the “first-come, first-served” principle, there’s no penalty for submitting registrations later.

All individuals or organizations with a connection to the Community of Madrid may register a .madrid domain name. They just need meet any of the following criteria:
- be a resident of the Community of Madrid
- have personal or professional business within the Community of Madrid
- possess a direct or indirect connection to the Community of Madrid
