Starting on June 13, 2024, new regulations will come in effect to domain names in .my, Malaysia’s ccTLD. It will no longer be necessary to have local presence to register a .my domain name.
Until now, it was mandatory to have a local company or to use use a trustee provided by Gandi Corporate Services to own .my domain name through Gandi.
As of June 13, 2024, this requirement will no longer apply. The .my domain names will therefore be open without restriction as part of an early access phase (EAP) preceding the general availability of .my on June 20, 2024.
Please note that these new rules only apply to .my and not the other extensions offered by the registry, such as .com.my, which still require a local presence.
