Registry Lock service for one year with DNS Security+ package for .com.

In September, Gandi is offering Registry Lock as part of the DNS Security+ package for one year, thanks to Verisign. This offer is for .com domain name holders and must be purchased before 31 October 2024. It is a good opportunity to benefit from Verisign’s Registry Lock service, which provides domain name security at the registry level.

Domain hijacking is a threat that needs to be taken very seriously. The victim of such an attack can lose their online identity that needed months or years to build up, suffer financial consequences and sustainably damage their reputation with customers and partners, who are also victims of this identity theft. By 2023, it is estimated that 73% of DNS-related attacks had interrupted victims’ online activity, and 29% had resulted in data theft.

The Registry Lock service provides an additional layer of security for Gandi’s DNS Security Pack + solution by blocking some operations. In order for the domain name holder to proceed with a modification that is likely to affect the resolution of their website, including a deletion or transfer, Gandi must first unlock the domain name via a special procedure. This procedure allows the registry to verify the legitimacy of the request before authorizing it. This procedure makes it possible, for example, to block sensitive operations on a domain name.

For two months, newly subscribed Security+ DNS packages used with .com domain names will benefit from Verisign’s Registry Lock service for one year.

As a reminder, the DNS Security + pack, launched by Gandi in 2024, secures the editing of your domain’s technical and administrative parameters, takes advantage of DNS redundancy to improve responses, and anticipates the risks of DDOS and DNS hijacking.

You can subscribe to the DNS Sécurité+ Pack from your Gandi interface.
