New language and database combinations on Simple Hosting
All year, as we announced back in January, we’ve been working on improving our suite of hosting options. Besides opening a new data center, we have also been changing virtualization software used on our Cloud server option. As for Simple Hosting on #gandiv5, we added a new Small+SSL instance size and free, automatic SSL certificate management.
Today, we’re happy to announce that eighteen new combinations of programming language and database versions are available on Simple Hosting.
New programming language versions:
- PHP 7.1
- NodeJS 6 (with the possibility to change to any version)
- Ruby 2.4
- Python 3.6 and Python 2.7
New database versions:
- MySQL 5.7 (Percona Server)
- PostgreSQL 9.6
- MongoDB 3.2
Reminder of all the currently available versions of each:
- PHP 7.1 and PHP 5.6
- Node.js 6 (with the possibility to choose whichever version)
- Python 3.6 and Python 2.7
- Ruby 2.4
- MySQL 5.7 (Percona Server)
- PostgreSQL 9.6
- MongoDB 3.2
This update breathes new life into our Python and Ruby options in particular, making Simple Hosting a solid option for Django, Ruby on Rails and other apps.
These new versions are already available when creating new Simple Hosting instances. Soon we’ll also offer the option to update an already existing instance as well.
This launch is the first big, visible benefit we’re able to share with you after the introduction of our new Simple Hosting instance architecture that we’ve been working on for the past couple months — concurrent with the data center updates. These infrastructure updates will form the basis of others to come in the future as well.
Of course if you have any questions, comments, or other feedback, feel free to contact our hosting support team.
