Premium domains for .corsica

Collectivite de Corse, the registry for .corsica, offers around 600 premium domains. A first batch was released this Tuesday, September 24, 2019. If you had tried to register a domain name that was previously indicated as unavailable, it may well be available today!

What is a premium domain name?

A premium domain name has the particularity of being easily memorable. It is often generic and therefore valuable in terms of search engine optimization. The purchase terms are identical to those set up for a standard domain name but, because of its high potential, a premium domain is subject to special pricing. Each domain is classified into a category according to its economic value.

Three batches for .corsica premium domain names

The sale of the premium domain names will be done in several phases (batches) during the next months. Only part of the premium domains will be sold in each phase.

On Tuesday 24 September 1:00 AM Pacific (9:00 UTC), batch 1 was released. Estimated timetable is as follows: Tuesday January 21, 2020 – 1:00 AM Pacific (9:00 UTC) (batch 2) and Tuesday September 22, 2020 – 1:00 AM Pacific (9:00 UTC) (batch 3)

As for every “classic” domain name, the principle of “first come – first served” applies when registering these premium domain names, i.e., it is provided in chronological order of receipt of requests by Gandi.

New rules for premium domain names

Given the high value of premium domains and the obvious value of some of them, any purchase of a premium domain will necessarily require its owner to actively use the domain name (i.e. active website using the premium domain as the primary or secondary domain name). The Registrant will have a period of 6 months to set up a website using the premium domain. Any speculation, “parking” or purchase for the purpose of resale is strictly prohibited.
