One- and two-character .lu domains are opening! And they’re now in the Landrush phase!

Starting November 2, 2020 through November 30, 2020, the Restena Foundation, the registry for .lu domains, is opening up the registration of .lu domain names with a length of 1 and 2 characters in Landrush period.

Registration conditions for 1 and 2 characters

In the past, you were only be able to register .lu domains with at least 3 characters, but today, these rules are becoming history. Based on software faults and security considerations, many countries, including Luxembourg, previously didn’t allow registrants to register domains with only 1 or 2 characters. However, as time has passed, more and more registrants (corporations, organizations, or individuals) prefer having this kind of domain.

The Landrush period is open to all natural and legal persons via an independent, online bidding process. As of November 2, 2020, public sale of these domains will start for a period of 1 month with a minimum price of €100 per domain name. Get your bid in now! Don’t waste another minute!

Registration during Landrush period can not be offered by registrars, you have to apply directly with the registry. After you effectively obtain a 1 and 2 characters domain, you will be able to transfer it to a registrar/Gandi.
