Starting November 16, 2020, DNS Belgium, the registry for .be domains will start verifying the contact information provided by the owner contact of suspect, newly registered .be domain names.
Verifying owner contact information on a .be domain
As such, suspect registrations will not be delegated/activated and will remain inactive and:
- the registry contacts the owner by email to request documents to verify the contact information they provided,
- the domain name will point to a web page indicating that the verification process is in progress
The domain name will then be activated once a successful verification can be completed.
What you need to know
Currently, the registry already undertakes this type of verification a posteriori which can lead to the suspension or deletion of a domain name that fails verification. Now they will do so beforehand as well.
