Domain registrations in .au opening soon
The .au domain extension is here! auDA, the registry for Australia’s official domain ending, .au has announced that starting March 24, 2022, domain names can be registered directly on .au. A priority registration period will be open to owners of .com.au, .net.au, .org.au, and .id.au domain names until September 20, 2022.

Tanzania’s .tz is now available as of March 1, 2022
The ccTLD for Tanzania, .tz, launched recently, on March 1, 2022. To avoid the risk of cybersquatting, those who already own .co.tz domain names and owners of registered trademarks have access to a priority registration period until June 30, 2022.

New conditions coming for .com.tr, .net.tr, and .org.tr domains
More flexible domain registration conditions have been announced for .com.tr, .net.tr, and .org.tr domain names, though still without any set implementation date. In any case, it will soon no longer be necessary to have a business presence in Turkey to register one of these domain names. This opening up expands opportunities but also increases the risks of cybersquatting.

CENTR committee excludes Russia
CENTR, the association of European country code top-level domain name registries, has excluded the Russian ccTLD operator due to the war in Ukraine. A decision intended to be symbolic and meaningful, but which shouldn’t have any impact on the management of any TLDs.
European study on abuse linked to DNS
Malicious activity on DNS is a growing problem that affects online security, causes damage to users and to third parties, and undermines confidence in the internet. Through the analysis of numerical data, the goal of this European study is to evaluate the scope, scale, and impact of the DNS abuse phenomenon, and to study ways to respond to them.
