Moe Day is on October 10 this year!
What is ‘moe‘? If you ever visited Tokyo’s Akihabara (秋葉原) district you will be confronted right away with moe.
It is not certain where the word came from but it refers to feelings of affection, adoration, devotion, and … excitement towards cartoon characters of Japanese manga, anime and video games and any other immaterial things that need love.
Moe is also among the new top level domain name extensions and to celebrate our affection (and devotion) to this gTLD we are happy to offer 50% OFF for the first year on new registrations of .moe from Moe Day until the end of October.
For those who are unaware, a brief explanation as to why 10-10 is Moe Day:萌 (from 萌え) is the Kanji Character in Japanese (which is Hanzi for Chinese readers or Hanja for Korean readers).
Deconstructing this character, we can easily see that it is made of the following elements:十 十 (or ten twice, hence October 10) plus 日 which means “Day” and 月 which stands for “Month.”
We hope you enjoyed this little Japanese lesson!
