Gandi Cloud servers in 2020: the same vision but new ambitions

In 2008, Gandi was among the first to offer virtual machines (VMs) available on demand that could be resized as desired. This is what we today call Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), which we continue to offer via our Gandi Cloud service. Even if today the market is dominated by a few giants, the virtual machine service Gandi imagined more than 10 years ago is still one of the most flexible out there.

Booting an anycast DNS network

Since early January, our hosted DNS service LiveDNS has been hosted on an anycast platform more distributed than we could ever achieve before. We’ve been slowly migrating customers from our old infrastructure to the new one over the last few months and the service is now hosted on what we call internally “nanopops”. This allowed us to bring service to new locations we’ve never been before, especially places closer to our customers.
